I want to take apart my son's Walkman WM-F2015 too.
The radio works but not the cassette player.
Any advice would be so APPRECIATED. how did it go for you?

how did you take it apart one side of the part isn't spinning and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it
Mine didnt work either, same as your, dont take it apart. I did. Some things will fall out and tou cant put them back together. this is the reason they dtry not to let you. Its radio will break if tou do and then it is useless

Wow, five years ago...as I recall it had a bunch of snaps around the edges. Try getting an old plastic card and sliding it around the edges once you have the screws out, to disengage those.

Where are the screws located? When I put a tape in and push play, the tape spits out. With no tape in, tape turning gears don't move; the little pin in the front turns, but nothing else. I can see the gears engauging. On the tape-turning gears, fast-forward and rewind do not work, only turn the little pin in front. Stop is working. If you happen to know what year this model is from, I'd like to know.

These have two belts, one from the motor to the capstan and then one from the capstan to the takeup reel. The takeup reel belt on yours is broken, but they are easy to replace. Slide a spudger in between the plastic on the back to disengage the clips.

I just bought one on eBay and I can tell the belts are bad. I cannot see any screws anywhere and it's very difficult to pry apart. Can anyone provide more information?

The back of the case is retained by clips, and can be pried open with a knife. One clip broke. No screws. One belt was broken, the other slack.
Replacement belts on eBay, maybe

Buy a package of miscellaneous belts from ebay or Amazon. Then pick out a belt that's just a smidge smaller than the one you take off. I did it for my F2015 and that partly fixed it. It has a bad capstan so that's my next thing to fix.

To open the walkman you push the middle fast forward button. Then you put a screwdriver UNDER it and gently tilt it until the back plate jumps off a bit. Continue this around the frame until it is completely open. Then lift up the back plate and nothing will fall out.

I need to replace the capstan on my WM-F2015 but can't find that part. Anyone know where I can find one that will work? The capstan in the player now has a nasty dent and it's causing a warble.
